Drawing FUNdamentals

Explore beginning drawing! Beginning drawing class will offer an overview of some basic drawing techniques: contour, linear, stipple, design ideas, composition for drawing still life, perspective, and other sketching techniques.

Bring basic drawing tools, pencils, erasers, tortillons/paper stump, thin line markers, smooth drawing paper, and pencil sharpener.

Cassandra Lietz has taught art to all levels, from K- Adult. She will customize instruction to your level and comfort zone, as you explore various methods, techniques and materials.

Photography: Pro Tips and Techniques

A great picture is a work of art and a lasting memory. Learn to use your camera to its fullest potential. Discover the keys to a good photograph and   the meaning of composition, balance, aperture settings, focus, etc. No camera phones, please.

Pottery 

 Learn hand-formed techniques to create artistic and functional clay pieces that you will be proud to display in your home or at work. Explore coil and slab construction, sculpture, glazing and firing of clay work.

Material fee is required at first class- $20

American Sign Language: Silent Talk

Learn ASL for the home, school, or workplace. Develop signed vocabulary, sentence structure, fingerspelling, placement, and techniques and shortcuts for communicating with deaf and hearing disabled people.

Tara Benyacko is a certified American Sign Language Instructor and Deaf Educator.  She has privately interpreted in various venues and is currently employed by the Diocese of St. Augustine as an interpreter.  She has over 15 years of experience working in the field.  She enjoys sharing her knowledge in adult community education classes to help lessen the gap between Hearing and Deaf worlds.

Conversational Spanish

Beginning and Beyond

Learning a new language opens a window to the world. Spanish is fun   and useful to know in our global society. You will learn common greetings,   phrases, vocabulary, and Spanish culture. Learn to order in restaurants,   shop, ask directions, etc.

Cecilia Feliciano is a native Spanish-speaker who mixes culture and conversation in her very interactive classroom. She has taught Spanish in the St. Johns County School District for several years but she loves sharing her passion for the language with adults, as well.

Microsoft Office: Basics and Beyond

Get more out of your computer by learning about the MS Office programs: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher. Miriam Testasecca has been trained in and uses computers in her professional and personal life. She will lead you step-by-step  through the versatile Microsoft Office suite of  programs. Basic Microsoft Excel

This is a beginning/basic class. Unlock the mysteries of MS Excel! Linda Skinner has taught Excel in   many settings and she will walk you through the steps to becoming comfortable   using the program to create schedules, spreadsheets, formulas, data lists,   and more. A take-home handout will be provided. Computers are provided or   bring your own.

Music

Bluegrass String Band

Whether you are a closet picker or a jam session regular, you will   enjoy this class, which explores the worlds of old-time, bluegrass, folk, and  early country music. Emphasis is on playing, swapping songs, singing freely, and becoming more comfortable in a group setting. Instrumentation includes   guitar, banjo, bass, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, harmonica, and, of course, vocals.   Song books will be provided.

Veteran teacher, Tommy Bledsoe, is a champion hog-caller and two time Florida   Old-Time Banjo Champion, having won at both Dade City and White Springs.
